Who we are

Aracari Lodge is a small lodge in Cahuita, Costa Rica. It sits on the Caribbean coast. This site is run by Aracari Lodge, Cahuita, Costa Rica. You can reach us at hello@aracari-lodge.com.

What we collect

This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics. It has no forms and no accounts. When you browse it, we collect nothing about you.

Two things happen outside this site. We tell you both.

• Vercel hosts the site. It logs each request: IP address, browser, time. We read those logs in Vercel's dashboard. We use them for nothing else. We keep no copy of our own. Vercel keeps server logs for a limited period.
• If you write to us, we get your email address. We also get whatever you put in the message.

What we do with it

We use your email to reply. Dates, questions, a reservation. We keep the logs so the site runs and stays secure. We keep your mail because you wrote to us. That is our legitimate interest, nothing more.

We keep your mail while we are still talking about a stay. Once it is answered and settled, we delete it. We don't sell your details. We don't share them. We don't write to you about anything you didn't ask for.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold on you. You can ask us to correct it or to delete it. You can also tell us to stop processing your mail. Write to us and we stop.

This holds under Costa Rica's Law 8968. It holds under the GDPR in the EU. In the United Kingdom the UK GDPR applies. Write to hello@aracari-lodge.com and we handle it directly.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. In the EU and the UK, that is your national one. In Costa Rica, it is PRODHAB.

Hosting

Vercel is a US company. It serves the site from servers inside and outside the EU. The request logs and the images pass through it.

Our mailbox sits with an outside email provider. We read the mail here in Costa Rica, outside the EU.

Costa Rica has no EU adequacy decision. Vercel processes data under its data-processing agreement, which includes the EU standard contractual clauses.
